Wedding dress.

The wedding dress is not floor-length but is displayed beautifully on a unique wooden mannequin. This is located up a very narrow, old-fashioned staircase in the attic, which probably originally housed two of the servants.

Note the painted silhouettes on the surround (the back wall). During prohibition, this room became the 'speakeasy'. Notice the silhouettes on the wall behind the mannequin. Those close enough to the family to be invited to join them here in any festivities had to be 'initiated', i.e., have their silhouettes painted on the wall. These remained in excellent condition and have not been retouched. Some individuals have been identified and each has a small plaque with his or her name.

Note the lacy detail in the overskirt of the wedding dress. Simple and elegant; but not so simple to create!
