Phillips House (late 19th century) the day before the big event.

Phillips Cabin, built in the late 19th century, was donated to Hart Square in 1991 by Dewey Willis. The builder has not been identified. Dan Phillips was born in the cabin in 1910. His father, Thompson Phillips, and his uncle, Wallace Phillips, ran a woolen mill powered by an overshot metal turbine (still buried in the ground at the original location). Thompson lived at the cabin with his family while operating the mill. The mill can be located on the 1886 Yoder map of Catawba County

Moving the building required cutting a 3/4 mile road through heavy forest and building a log bridge across a wide and deep creek.
