Lace Bell and Lace Sea Horse

Saturday was misty and rainy all day, but not especially windy. Even so, things in the center of the large tent were damp. I would have needed windshield wipers if needing my glasses to work. My lace pieces were safely under glass - and the glass was misted and fogged - even my socks were wet when I got home. One advantage was that I was working with linen thread - thus not concerned about breaking threads in that damp atmosphere, as would be more likely with a fine cotton thread.

Visitors were scarce, but it did give vendors a chance to get around and see others working. Some of us have been there a number of years but seen very little of what others do - there is simply never time or opportunity. They particularly appreciated the 'Stop Me Before I Volunteer Again' towel that was part of my display.

I show the Bell and the Metallic Sea Horse principally so people can understand that lace and lace makers are not restricted to patterns from days of yore. They are interested to know that despite such strong historical roots and traditions, that it is a growing and flexible art form.
